Rosacea is a skin condition, typically affecting the face, resulting in redness, swelling and dilated blood vessels. The cause is unknown but genetics and environmental factors likely contribute to symptoms. Medical lasers or pulsed lights have been effective treatments for rosacea to reduce the appearance of red skin. CO2 lasers are used to remove excess tissue by emitting wavelengths absorbed directly by the skin. The focus vaporizes the intended tissue to dissolve the cells.
